Daniese Hedrick Smith 1978, Brown Summit, was recently named North Carolina's Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year. Smith applies agricultural concepts to lessons within the second-grade class she teaches at Alamance Elementary.
Mark T. Fales 1992, Greensboro, has launched a new website specializing in women’s jewelry and accessories. Check out Fales' new business here.
Sheila Evans Kurtiak 1995, Gibsonville, recently passed the state life insurance exam for NC. She will be selling annuities and life insurance products for Suntrust Bank.
Jennifer Moore Bradley 1998, Brown Summit, has been managing Global Marketing Operations at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC for over 12 years.
Kate E. Roberton 2005 from State College, PA, will graduate from Penn State's Smeal College of Business with her MBA in Marketing and Supply Chain on May 7, 2011. After graduation, Roberton plans to move to Cincinnati, OH, where she will work with dunnhumbyUSA in their marketing consulting/shopper behavior area.
Prof. Jane C. Girardi from Greensboro has accepted an offer to become Greensboro College's new Assistant Director of the TESOL program. Previously, Girardi was an Assistant Professor of German and an Academic Counselor at GC.
Dr. Cynthia B. Hanson, Sr. Professor of Marketing at Greensboro College, has recently tendered her resignation from GC in order to accept an appointment at High Point University. Dr. Hanson contributed to the growth and development of Greensboro College in many ways and will be missed.

Nellie Alexander Biggers 1937, Charlotte, died at her home on March 17, 2011. (obituary)
Sarah Davis Campbell 1942, Chapel Hill, died April 8, 2011. Check out an article dedicated to the wonderful life of Mrs. Campbell here as well as her obituary here.
Dr. Milton E. Reece, Oak Island, died April 5, 2011 from failing health. At the time of his death, Reece was a Distinguished Professor of Physical Education and Recreation Emeritus at Greensboro College. During his tenure at GC, he taught in the Physical Education department, chaired the Education department, and coached both basketball and golf. (obituary)

Monica Powers Goforth 1978 of Campobello, SC, in the death of her husband Mickey Goforth who died on March 3, 2011. (Mickey Goforth's obituary)
Pamela McKirdy, Burlington, in the death of her mother Dorothy Reekes in Naples, FL on April 7, 2011. McKirdy is currently the Associate Vice President for Technology at Greensboro College.
Births/Adoptions
Jeffrey E. Whipple 1992 and wife Melanie F. Whipple of Suwanee, GA, welcomed Grayson McCrae Whipple into their family in Dec. 2010. He joins older brothers Jack, Carson, and sister Parker.
Jennifer Moore Bradley 1998 and Matthew Bradley of Brown Summit welcomed their second daughter, Rachel Catherine, on Dec. 16, 2010.
Elizabeth Boyd Prezioso 2000 and Eric Prezioso from Graham welcomed their third child Arabella Elizabeth on March 30, 2010.
Kristen Crutchfield Brown 2004, and Jeremy Brown from Kernersville welcomed their first child, Aiden Hodges Brown, on April 21, 2011 (see picture below). Kristen currently works at Greensboro College as the Director of Annual Giving. (Photo courtesy of Kristen Brown.)
